Programme
Aphrodisias owed its reputation to the marble quarries at its doorstep and to a school of sculpture whose work was exported across the Roman Empire. The site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2017 and remains remarkably intact.
Highlights include the stadium — with 30,000 seats, the best-preserved in the ancient world — the restored Tetrapylon gateway, the Temple of Aphrodite later converted into a basilica, and the Sebasteion reliefs. The on-site museum displays original statues rather than casts, which is unusual in Anatolia.
